Therapeutic knitting is a fun and effective approach to managing stress, anxiety, and chronic symptoms, so you can feel calm, confident and in control, even on your worst stuck-in-bed flare-up days.
Hi, I’m Becky
Over the 20+ years that I’ve been knitting, I have personally experienced the sanity-saving and therapeutic benefits of this craft.
One day, I’ll tell you the full story, but for now, let’s just say, it’s seen me through multiple seasons of unwellness, including debilitating chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), major depression and anxiety.
Recovery takes time, patience and consistent effort. It’s not always easy…
But it is possible.
Over the years, I have learned to prevent relapses by taking personal responsibility for my own health and making a life-long commitment to stress reduction and self-care.
Whether you are a long-time knitter or a complete beginner, I believe knitting, when practiced with intention, can become a valuable part of your wellness toolkit.
As you embark on your own journey into wellness and recovery, may knitting bring you the calm, comfort, and joy that it has brought to me over the years.
Peace, Love, & Knit Om,
Becky
What are the Benefits of knitting?
Knitting can help to reduce the harmful effects of stress. It’s a way to actively and intentionally stimulate the body’s natural healing system – the relaxation response – to reduce your stress levels.
Knitting has been shown to improve cognitive functioning, by helping knitters to sort through problems or think more clearly. Knitting also offers a welcome distraction from negative or ruminating thoughts.
